My story

Built to help families navigate with confidence.

Strong Anchor Consulting empowers parents of children with disabilities through education, strategic guidance, and actionable tools that transform overwhelm into capability.

Our beginning

Built on a simple belief about family strength

Strong Anchor Consulting started with a clear purpose: help families of children with disabilities move from overwhelm to confidence. We believe families already have the resourcefulness and capability they need. What they're missing is the right information, language, and guidance to navigate complex systems and advocate effectively. That's what we provide.

Kristi Young

Founder and Consultant

Kristi brings over 27 years of experience supporting individuals and families across the disability community — in-home caregiving, direct support, special education teaching, and administrative roles coordinating services within complex systems. Her career includes federal-level advocacy work, collaborating with legislative offices on special education funding and policy. Throughout her work, Kristi has partnered closely with families to translate overwhelming systems into clear, actionable steps — whether in education, healthcare, or long-term planning. In addition to her professional background, Kristi is also a parent of a teen with a medically complex disability. That perspective deepens her understanding of what families are navigating and informs how she shows up for the families she serves. That combined experience shapes how she approaches every consultation every consultation: with the assumption that families are capable and resourceful, and that what they most often need is not another opinion, but clarity, structure, and someone who can help them see the whole picture.

Credentials & Continued Learning

When you're trusting someone to consult on your child's needs, you deserve to know their expertise is verifiable — Kristi Young holds Board Certification in Advocacy in Special Education (BCASE) through the National Association of Special Education Teachers and an Idaho Advanced Professional Dual Certificate Teaching License through the Idaho State Department of Education. She is currently pursuing Board Certification as a Patient Advocate (BCPA) through the Patient Advocate Certification Board — the healthcare-side counterpart that will complete the cross-system credential stack.
